The Craft Behind Each Coaster
Every coaster in our collection is made by hand in small workshops in northern Vietnam, where artisans have refined shell inlay techniques over generations. Individual capiz shell pieces — harvested from windowpane oysters — are cut into specific shapes and pressed one by one into a lacquered wood base. The handwoven rattan rim is added separately, woven piece by piece around the edge of each coaster. The process for a single coaster takes considerable skill and time, which is why no two are exactly alike.
